Alice Rastello Obituary

Calumet – Alice M. Rastello passed away at Mission Point, Hancock.   She was born in Calumet, a daughter of Albert and Miriam (Bastian) Newman and graduated from Calumet High School in 1942.  She moved to Detroit and was employed with Michigan Blue Cross Insurance Company.  She married Charles Rastello there on November 6, 1943.  Following his military discharge, the couple moved to Laurium in 1946.  They were married 73 years and had three children, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  At an early age she had a passion for painting with water colors, and had a collection.  Later in life, her hobby was gardening.  She was always happy to plant her flowers and decorate her porch and sundeck, work in her yard and have cookouts.  She also liked to read and was a TV, movie and cooking channel fan.  Alice liked going on picnics, listening to Big Band music and shopping and keeping up with style trends.    Alice was a member of the United Methodist Church of Laurium.  She and her husband were long time members of the Calumet Elks Club.  Preceding her in death are her daughter Robin Blough in 2015 and husband Charles in 2016 and nephew Robert Cloutier in 2018 and niece Charlsie Anikainen in 2019 and granddaughter Esme Johnson in 2021.  Surviving are son Reid Rastello of Copper Ciy and Julie DePaul Johnson of Calumet, son-in-law Mark Blough of Calumet, sister-in-law Margery Tavernini of Marquette, grandchildren LeAnne LaBonte of Calumet, Lori Wuestneck of Fenton, Reid (Laura) Rastello jr of Copper City, Vincent A. DePaul of Indiana, PA, great-grandchildren Logan Rastello, Colin and Alayna Wuesneck, Paige Rastello-Weber, Mikaylee Harri, Stella Mae Johnson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.Calumet – Alice M.
