Barbara H (Mayer) Shaltz

Laurium – Barbara Helen Shaltz age 90, daughter of the late Ruth and Michael Mayers went home to the lord and her one and only love “Joe da Plumb” Shaltz on April 11, 2020.  She is survived by her children Diane (Denny) Niskanen, Paula (Jake) Jackovich and Joseph “Mike” (Jeanne) Shaltz, two brothers, Arthur (Mary) Mayers and Cliff Mayers.  Also survived by her grandchildren Kelly Lancour, Christopher Ryan, Eric Jackovich and Jamie Griffith, Jason and Joe Niskanen and Sabrina Watts, numerous great-grandchildren nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1988 and a daughter Sharon “Sherry” Shaltz in 2003 as well as her three sisters Lily, Ruth and Dorothy.  Barb will be remembered for her saucy sense of humor, candid wit and love of good cooking.  She adored her family and was especially proud of her Cornish heritage, which certainly rang true when she made a batch of homemade pasties.  Her legacy of independence, strength and hard work lives on in those who knew and loved her.  Barbara’s family would like to thank the staff of Canal View Medical Care Facility for their exceptional care of Barbara during her stay there.  Private graveside services will be held at a later date.  Ryan Funeral Home is serving the family.
