We are sad to announce the death of Frederick Martin Gerhardt of Gay, who passed away at home on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the age of 77.  Fred is survived by Janet, his wife of 55 years, daughters Karen Turner, Alice (Glen) Spangler, and Sarah (Paul) Chapman, his grandchildren, Josh and Erin Turner, and Carol (Charles) Doyle, Kass (Don) Simila, and Lynne (Gordon Karvonen) Gerhardt.

Fred was born on November 11, 1945, in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, to Fred and Del (Piquette) Gerhardt.  He graduated from South Lyon High School in 1963 and from Kearney State Teacher’s College (Nebraska) in 1968.  Fred taught math and coached in Novi, South Lyon, and Kingston.  He loved coaching baseball and mentoring his players.  In retirement, little made him happier than being with family and attending as many of Josh and Erin’s activities as he could.  He made many friends at the Loading Zone II. 

There will be no funeral at this time.  A memorial will be held in the summer.
