OBITUARY—LOUISE (PASICH) UCMAN

Louise Ucman (nee Pasich), 98, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 30, 2022 at Gardenview Assisted Living where she had been a resident for the past three years.  She was born in Calumet on August 7, 1924, a daughter of Peter and Louise Pasich.  Louise married Rudolph (Rudy) Ucman of Calumet on November 25, 1950.  The couple resided in Calumet for their entire marriage with time, also, spent at Gratiot Lake.  They were proprietors of the Calumet Laundry and managed for a time the Calumet Theater.  Louise was a “Daughter of the Copper Country” spreading the values she learned all her life to her family’s succeeding generations.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter in 1948 and Louise in 1958, her husband, Rudy, in 1989, brother Peter and sisters Katherine Schaltz, Christina and Irene Pasich.  Louise is survived by her niece, Chris Voght of Houghton, MI, and nephew, Michael Schaltz of Maineville, OH and three succeeding generations of great nieces and nephews—all of whom learned in their own way the love she had for her extended family.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s church in Calumet with Rev. Fr. Gracious Pulimoottil to officiate.  Visitation is planned for the hour of 9:30 am – 10:30 am at Ryan Funeral Home on Saturday, September 3rd prior to the burial mass.  Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s church in Calumet.
