Patricia Lynn Altenburg

Patricia “Patti” Lynn Altenburg, 82, formerly of Calumet, and Houghton, MI, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023. She was the daughter of the late George B. Allison and Mable M. Allison and was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul W. Altenburg; son, Telmo “Tony” Anthony Chaves; sister, Susan Buckley; and brother George B. Allison Jr.

She made Calumet her home in 1997; quickly falling in love with the UP as it and the people reminded her of upstate New York, her place of birth and where she spent the early part of her childhood. She later moved to Houghton in 2017. Patti retired from management with the state of Florida, Department of Transportation. A sweet tender soul, that dedicated a large portion of her life as a homemaker, pouring her heart into caring for her loved ones. Her compassion extended even further, as she selflessly tended to family members during their times of illness. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love created a home that was warm and inviting.

Beyond her role as a caregiver, Patti was an avid reader, and loved to cook, bake, sew, and knit to name a few.  Her creativity was boundless and admired by many.  In her younger years, Patti was active in her community, she was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star and other organizations.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Jorja Albert; son-in-law, James Albert; daughter-in-law, Lillie Critchfield; sister, Mary E. Pringle; niece, Melody Olmstead, and other extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at  11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jared Howard on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Ryan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, 527 Hancock St, Hancock, MI 49930, or At Home Care and Hospice, 629 Southpark Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
