Tanya Rae Makela 59, passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 in Kingsford, Michigan.  She was born in Hancock and attended local schools there.  She is survived by her two children Derek and Amber; her father James of Hancock, brothers Robert of Englewood, Florida, Rick of Kingsford, Gary of Calumet, and Barry of Iron Mountain; sisters Lynne Virtanen of Iron Mountain and Lena (Jeff) Hakala of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.  Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Roberta and brother Daniel.

Funeral services scheduled for Monday, July 6th at Ryan Funeral Home at one p.m.
